Brewers dominate White Sox 6–1 as Turang shines and Vaughn injury weakens Milwaukee offense

The Milwaukee Brewers continued their strong start to the series with a 6–1 win over the Chicago White Sox on March 28, 2026, powered by aggressive baserunning, clutch hitting, and a deep bullpen performance.

Milwaukee set the tone early with a three-run first inning, sparked by Brice Turang, who had a standout night. Turang finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored, consistently creating pressure at the top of the lineup. Christian Yelich also contributed with multiple hits, while Garrett Mitchell delivered a key two-run single in the opening frame.

The Brewers’ offense emphasized “small ball,” collecting 12 hits, drawing five walks, and stealing seven bases, showcasing speed and execution throughout the game. Joey Ortiz and Mitchell were especially impactful on the basepaths, helping manufacture runs beyond traditional power hitting.

On the mound, rookie starter Chad Patrick provided a solid outing, allowing one run on five hits over 4⅓ innings with four strikeouts. The bullpen took over from there, with Aaron Ashby earning the win after 1⅔ scoreless innings, and relievers like Abner Uribe and DL Hall closing things out to keep Chicago off the board late.

For Chicago, the lone bright spot came from Munetaka Murakami, who launched a solo home run—his second in as many games. However, the White Sox struggled overall, going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and failing to capitalize on limited opportunities.

A major storyline surrounding the game—and the series—was the absence of Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn suffered a broken hamate bone requiring surgery, sidelining him for several weeks. His injury significantly weakened the middle of Chicago’s lineup, removing one of their primary power threats and forcing lineup adjustments. Without Vaughn, the White Sox lacked consistent run production and struggled to keep pace with Milwaukee’s offensive pressure.

Overall, the Brewers’ combination of speed, situational hitting, and pitching depth proved decisive, as they controlled the game from the outset and continued to exploit Chicago’s defensive and lineup gaps.
